My First NFT

My journey into the Web3 space began on the Ethereum blockchain. I started by investing a total of $1,000 USD into buying some ETH using Coinbase. From the beginning, I wanted to use the ETH that I bought to explore the NFT space. There was no central location for me to look into how to purchase my first NFT but luckily I had a friend that was able to get me started with Metamask.

Since this is my first post, I won’t dive into the details of Metamask. To keep things simple, think of Metamask as your online wallet in the Web3 world. Metamask will help you connect to websites and smart contracts to interact with the Ethereum blockchain. Wallets are essential to interacting with the Web3 space and I’ll be sure to create some how-to guides in the future on how to use them and best practices that I’ve discovered along the way.

The next thing I did was transfer the $1,000 USD I converted to ETH over to my Metamask wallet. Since this was my first stab at NFTs I ended up using OpenSea and purchasing the following NFT off of the secondary market. Going forward, this will be the format I’ll follow with providing a historical timeline of the NFTs that I’ve purchased during my time in the space along with the reasoning with why I purchased the individual NFT. I’ll also provide relevant information like my initial purchase price, the gas fees I paid, the amount I was able to sell the NFT for, and whether it was an overall gain/loss.
